Modern Jewelry giving Spiritual Protection
The design of modern jewelry can be inspired by present or recent events but also by ancient symbols and traditions. A good example of recent events that have inspired jewelry designers is the first atomic bomb leading to a massive increase of starburst designs and sprays of diamonds. Ancient traditions can be found in the designs of Egyptian jewelry, spiritual jewelry with kabala symbols, tribal designs, amulets for protection and sacred talismans. The day or night time also has its influence on these designs being gold as the preferred metal for daytime jewelry and diamonds for the evening or night
Jewelry For Daytime And Nighttime Use
When designing modern gold jewelry that will be worn mainly during the daytime, designers usually prefer Florentine finishes, mesh and foxtail or similar chains. In the fifties the chain of cultivated pearls was very popular amongst the modern jewelry designers
In the sixties, famous for its very colorful history gave birth to hybrid jewelry designs and women also started to wear silver jewelry, gemstones and geode crystals alongside the more traditional diamonds, gold and platinum. The flower Power era inspired the jewelry designers to create brilliant cuts for the diamonds like organic or abstract and jagged shapes. Some designers even started to use regular metals in their designs.
Trends are known to change very often so in the seventies the jewelry designs were influenced and inspired by the blooming of feminism and the womens movement. This lead to a complete different type of jewelry designs. Women started to have a major influence on the designing of jewelry because they expressed their likes and dislikes. Jewelry started to look as they wanted by incorporating new materials like wood, ivory, rock crystals and coral.
The eighties and beginning of the nineties were marked by a glitzy, glamorous and sparkling style of jewelry design. The wedding of Princess Diana of Wales was marking another turning point when jewelry became more refined and elegant
When we entered the new millennium modern jewelry designers started to use even more materials in their creations to make them even look more special and unique. The use of hybrid metals, metal clay, synthetic materials, PMC , non-precious metals, synthetic gemstones, the coloring of pearls and multicolored diamonds ave given birth to a complete new style and look of modern jewelry.
When Man became aware of the presence of powers greater than himself he started to create spiritual jewelry for protection and blessing. This spiritual jewelry came in the form of rings, bracers, amulets, talismans and necklaces. Today there are many spiritual jewelry designers specialized in this kind of jewelry. Although the process of making the jewelry may have changed these unique jewels are still made based on ancient traditions and they make an excellent gift.
