Debt Management - Benefits To Consolidating Student Loans

by William Blake

If you’re like many post-secondary students, you likely racked up quite a bit in student debt during your formal education years. With college behind you and the bill in front of you, the debt is weighing heavily on you. Student loans are taking up a huge amount of your monthly budget. If this is you, it may be the right time to consider consolidating your student loans.

Consolidating debt typically has numerous advantages. Instead of making several payments to different loans throughout the month, debt consolidation allows consumers to pay just one payment per month that will cover the entire debt amount. This can be extremely convenient and helpful for budgeting. With a hectic life and job, it is much easier to make one prompt payment as opposed to three or four.

Another great advantage to consolidating debt from student loans is to secure a fixed, low interest rate for the debt. Many student loans have rates that can fluctuate over time.

One can usually consolidate debts from student loans once through a private company, to secure a lower rate. Most often the student doesn’t pay fees to consolidate their loans, because the company makes money from the government. This makes the process easier and convenient for both the student and private company.

Cutting the interest rate by consolidating student loans can save money. With a lower interest rate, you can enjoy smaller monthly payments. The lower payment amount can really help stretch the budget through hard financial times. Also, the smaller payments toward the interest can help you to pay the debt down for good.

By paying extra to the payment amount each month, you can watch your student loan debt shrink much more quickly. For instance, if you were to consolidate debt from a $100 payment per month to a fee of $75 per month, continue to pay the original amount of $100 per month. As each month passes, you will pay $25 to the principal amount, thus paying down your debt much faster.

As discussed, there are several benefits to consolidating your student loans. You will save money, and be able to pay your debt much quicker if you can secure a lower interest rate. You’ll also enjoy the convenience of a single monthly payment instead of several monthly payments.

With no fees typically associated with debt consolidation, this option is frequently available for practically anyone who is interested. If student loans are taking a toll on your budget, or you simply want to get out of debt, take advantage of these benefits by consolidating student debt for a better rate.

Broken By Your Credit Card? Credit Repair Service Can Help

by William Blake

Sure, we all love them but when misused, a credit card can break us. Too often, there is no self-control associated with credit card use, which means you are quickly in debt and then losing sleep over it. If you are tired of being drug down by credit card debt, we have good news. Credit repair services are offered throughout the country, providing services online and in person. Although not every company is honest, the Federal Trade Commission or FTC has developed a number of safety guidelines that help consumers choose a reputable company.

What to Look for in a Scam

Just as there are many different options of credit cards, you will find as many, if not more debt reduction companies to match. When looking for a service to help you, make sure they follow federal laws. Most importantly, if a company makes outlandish promises, you should be suspicious. These companies should have one goal in mind - teaching you better money management for life, not using various services to fix the problem temporarily. Therefore, if you read advertisements for quick fixes, rather than financial education, beware. Some of the more common statements made associated with a scam include the following:

Repair your credit ” 100% guaranteed (this is impossible) Get a new credit identity (this is illegal) Get all bankruptcies, low credit scores and liens from your credit file eliminated (ditto) No credit problem to bad for us to fix (this means they are stupid)

To help get rid of your debt by credit card, credit repair services are required by federal law to let you know of what actions you can undertake for free. For example, if they insist that you have to pay to get your own credit report, get up and leave.

All you have to do to get a copy of your reports from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion is to request one in writing, fill out an online form, or call them on the phone. Now, if you want to find your credit score, which is different from the credit report, you would typically be charged a small fee.

Understanding the Credit Repair Organizations Act

Because credit repair services are actual businesses, they are strictly regulated by the Federal Trade Commission. To ensure you are protected, a law was established called the Credit Repair Organizations Act, which states that all debt reduction companies must inform you of your rights prior to any money being paid for their services.

In addition, these companies are not allowed to charge you until all of the work is done. Therefore, if any false claims are made regarding the services offered, you have the responsibility to let the FTC know. After all, this would be illegal action on the part of the debt reduction company.

Cellulite can Be Prevented

by Charlie Reese

Understanding the Different Causes of Cellulite

Cellulite is one of the most unsightly skin problems in the world, one that millions of people presently suffer with. Although it is much more predominant among women, cellulite can also affect men, and regardless of the gender it is affecting it can be devastating in terms of the person’s self esteem and self confidence.

Causes of Cellulite

Before you can properly treat your cellulite you need to understand the different causes of cellulite. This way you can determine the specific causes of cellulite in your case and then avoid them in the future, if possible.

There are actually quite a few different possible causes of cellulite. Although some people believe it to be a myth, it is actually truth that diet plays a major contributing role to cellulite. By eating fatty and sugary foods you are causes an increase in fluid retention in the body and a blockage of fat cells, which is what results in dimpling and puckering of the skin.

Lack of exercise can also be responsible for causing cellulite, and so it is important that you get in as much physical activity as you can. Genetics also play a major role as cellulite has been shown to run in families. A few of the other causes of developing cellulite include insufficient water intake, smoking, tension and stress, medication, and a sedentary lifestyle.

Treating Cellulite

Once you have determined the causes of cellulite in your particular case you can attempt to cease or avoid as many of the contributing factors as you can, but keep in mind that often additional treatment will be required as well.

Hydrotherapy is one of the most effective methods for preventing and treating cellulite. You can achieve hydrotherapy through steam baths, saunas, and hydro massage, to name a few, all which help by increasing circulation. Steam helps by loosening the pores in the body and improving circulation. Liposuction is one of the more serious treatment methods for cellulite and is often only used as a last resort. It has shown to be incredibly effective however, and so most people would consider it a worthy option.

Regardless of which particular treatment you decide to go with, the best thing you can do is live as healthy a lifestyle as possible in order to not only deal with your present cellulite but also prevent it from recurring in the future. Eating a healthy, well balanced diet, getting plenty of exercise and drinking enough water, at least six to eight glasses of water a day is ideal, will help you to reduce overall body fat and decrease cellulite.

Use of Mascots in Colleges and Universities

by Amy Nutt

Mascots on College and University Campuses

Dating back to the 1800’s the use of mascots in colleges and universities has helped to foster pride and raise the spirit of fans. At the earliest incarnation, mascots used on college and university campuses for sports were largely live animals. This has become a tradition and some campuses still practice this even today. Mascots for hundreds perhaps thousands of years have been viewed as symbols of luck. This is why some college and universities will still bring out a live animal onto the field as a mascot to get the crowd involved. Animals such as: lions, tigers, buffaloes, and bulldogs have been used as live mascots to name a few. The Colorado Buffaloes will often bring a buffalo out onto their home field during half-time. Boosters at most campuses supply the necessary funds for the feeding and upkeep of live mascots.

Use of Live Mascots a Controversy for Colleges and Universities

However, the use of live animals as mascots on college and university campuses has been fraught with controversy. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has had much to say about the use of animals as mascots over the years. Many people in the group feel that it is unethical and perhaps unhealthy to keep animals in captivity for the sole purpose of being a mascot. Their concern arises amid some animal mascots dying such as a tiger from renal failure. PETA argues that the cages that the animals are kept in are barely large enough to allow for free movement. Also, sometimes temperatures can be extreme and having thousands of fans in one place near the animal can cause it distress. Rival schools will at times steal the mascot of other schools. This is an ongoing controversy that hasn’t come to a clean end. Some colleges and universities view using live animal mascots as a long standing tradition that is harmless. Animal rights activists feel it is inhumane and unethical and needs to end.

Many Mascots Resemble Those in Professional Sports

Several colleges and universities don’t use live mascots. Their mascots are very much like the ones seen at professional football, soccer, and basketball games. Someone wears a suit and becomes the personality for the team. A lot of intense training can go into becoming a mascot for a college or university. The person has to have a high level of energy, be enthusiastic and engaging, be able to give the mascot “personality,” and adopt gestures befitting a mascot. Many will learn dances, mime, perform skits, waves flags with the crowds, or hold up signs to get the crowd involved. It is quite the acting job and demands that the person performing as the mascot maintain consistent, upbeat, and positive behavior. It’s not only important for the mascot to interact with other college students. A mascot needs to be accessible to all college and university fans such as alumni, community, faculty, and children of fans.

College and University Mascots aren’t Always Stereotypical

The use of mascots in colleges and universities do not always fall along stereotypical lines. Mascots are often patterned for characteristics of the school or the students attending the schools. The boll weevil has been used in college sports as the mascot for The University of Arkansas at Monticello. Some would argue that it doesn’t look like a formidable foe. Yet, it is one of the biggest detriments to cotton crops in the U.S. The Fighting Okra is the mascot representing Delta State. Fans of the school’s team were opposed to using the vegetable because they didn’t feel it portrayed the right image. Some argued that it was mean, green, and indigenous to the Southern region of America. Given this reasoning the mascot name has stuck.

The University of Hawaii-Hilo has taken a different approach with their mascot. They have emulated the Vulcans of Star Trek fan and made them their mascot. Their reasoning is due to the large amount of volcanic activity through the islands, the name fits perfectly.

Blog Your way to Earning Money with Affiliate Marketing

by Tamara Riddle

If you want to make money blogging, you can with affiliate marketing. While it seems simple on the surface, you’ll have to do your part to make sure your readers will buy products and services from you or you won’t make any money.

When writing the posts for your blog, you don’t want it to come across like a blatant advertisement, make it more of a personal recommendation. You want to persuade your visitors to check out the product you’re promoting so they will choose for themselves that it’s something they need. Posting quality content will require some informed writing and clever writing techniques to carry out your goal. However, if you’re a friendly, well-spoken blogger, you’ll get the hang of it in no time.

In recent years, blogging has become all the rage, which is why it’s being used for marketing purposes. If you own a blog or network of blogs, which are visited and read by many people, you may find that marketing products as an affiliate can be very lucrative.

Here’s how it works…write posts containing unique and entertaining content or content about hot or newsworthy topics, and you will have visitors returning several times a week to see what’s new. You can mention a number of affiliate products related to the topic in your posts and lead readers to click on your affiliate link to check out the products for themselves. This is how you make money blogging.

Affiliate marketing through blogs is a successful money-making opportunity particularly for people who presently have blogs up and running. But don’t lose hope if you’re just getting started with your blog and you have trouble getting approved by affiliate programs because you don’t have enough visitors yet. It should only take a month or so of posting each day to attract enough visitors. The good news is, many affiliate programs don’t require a minimum number of visitors, so you’ll get approved right away for these programs.

It’s possible for you to make even more money blogging, if you can deal with managing a number of blogs at once. To help you create more content for posting to your blogs, you might want to consider hiring a writer, or you can do all the writing on your own and use some type of auto-blogging software to make the posts for you.

How Does LTCi Protect Young Families?

by Susan P. Payne

How Does LTCi Protect Young Families? By Susan P. Payne How Does LTCi protect young families? Every day many people of all ages experience a significant change in health status. How would it impact your family if a sudden unexpected accident or illness happened? Are you prepared to handle the cost associated with long-term care? Needing long term care help is a family issue. What will happen to saving for the kids college? Your retirement? Your finances? Planning for a secure future can be possible with integrating Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCi) protection planning.

LTCi is important, yet overlooked by many. It is the day-to-day help you need when a serious illness, injury or disability makes you physically or cognitively unable to care for yourself for a long period of time. This type of care is usually provided at home, in an assisted living facility, adult day care or, lastly, in a nursing home. No one ever wants to think about a catastrophic illness or an accident like a broken leg or hip. Close your eyes and think about what life would be like with a broken hip. You could not walk, bathe or dress yourself. You would need someone to assist you in your normal activities of daily living. Could you depend on your family? Would you spouse have to miss work? Would the kids need to miss school or their sporting events?

How will having a Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCi) plan help you and your family? 1. Protects your independence, live how you want, where you want

2. Protects your family from the potential burden of being your caretaker

3. Protect your savings, college funds and retirement plans from the high cost of long term care

4. Many plans will pay for home health care providers, home health aides and caregivers, giving you freedom to choose what makes you comfortable.

Why does someone my age need to think about long-term care? Today you are healthy. But 24-hours from now, things can change. Many illnesses, once considered to be life threatening, are now life altering with the medical advances in place today. Many now leave you ‘disabled’ relying on others for care, sometimes for short periods of time, sometimes for life. Long term care protection requires you to “health qualify”. No matter how much you would be willing to pay, a change in health can make it impossible for you to health qualify for long term care insurance. For individuals who are currently young and in good health, you have the possibility of locking in “preferred rates” for your lifetime. Cost for insurance can be significantly lower at younger ages so you will save money! You lock in savings and you can never be canceled even if your health changes. You may benefit now and again later as many people need and use their benefits when they are young and again when they are older.

How does LTCi protect young families? Because things can change tomorrow, now is the right time!

Risotto and the Veneto Region Italian Food

by Isabel Da Silva

The Italian food of the Veneto region poses a perplexing question: With so many dishes to choose from, how can anyone have only one favorite? Given the great regional variations within the region, not to mention between Veneto and the rest of the country, there are a lot of unique dishes waiting for you to discover them. However, if risotto is something you crave, Veneto is definitely for you.

Besides pasta, risotto is the most universally known and celebrated of Italian food dishes. For those wanting some truly great Italian food, Veneto is a must visit.

Risotto is most simply a rice dish cooked very precisely. It is one of the most commonly ordered appetizers at Italian food restaurants. Yet for its amazing popularity, it is also one of the most common Italian food dishes to be botched. The key to a good risotto is to first cook the rice briefly in olive oil or butter.

The rice must be coated evenly in the butter oil, and toasted just until translucent. Broth is then added just a little at a time, the idea is to slowly saturate the rice with the broth, which helps it achieve it’s distinctive “risotto” texture. Unless the rice is toasted, it’s not risotto. Even if it’s served at the finest of Italian food restaurants, it just isn’t the same unless toasted.

Risotto is an incredibly versatile dish; almost anything may be added to it. Because of the diversity of high quality local ingredients in the Veneto region, this makes for a fascinating variety of risottos to be tried. The local specialty (for example, seafood and fish in coastal areas) tends to put in an appearance in the risotto.

You will find all manner of ingredients in a risotto when you’re in Veneto. For instance, asparagus and pumpkin, even frogs’ legs. That’s right, frogs’ legs; though usually associated with French cuisine, it is common in some parts of Italy as well.

The Veneto region is also home to some unique foods. The dishes here are heavier and rely on exotic spices and sauces. One unique dish that originated here and is quickly gaining popularity as an Italian food dish is pasta and beans. Beans are used in many dishes here due to their ready availability.

In Veneto, anchovy may be found in many dishes. However, as in much of the country, its popularity pales in comparison to that of sausages and other meats. A regional specialty is sopressata, a dry cured, pressed salami.

Most commonly, sopressata is pork based, but beef variations exist as well. Garlic salami is another local favorite. The Italian food found in Veneto includes quite a lot of the local produce specialties; these include radicchio and their famed asparagus, along with young tender peas, paired with rice. This is an Italian food dish unique to Veneto.

As we have seen, the Italian food of Veneto differs from the stereotype of Italian food held by many. From rice and vegetable dishes to its famed sausages like sopressata, there is a lot to choose from. If it just isn’t Italian food to you unless risotto is served, or if you know your sausage, Veneto’s Italian food is the thing for you. With it’s great variety, Veneto has a dish that will please everybody.

Green Premiums for Janitorial Business

by Michael Richmond

Most of us remember the “Orange Era.” It was a time when citric-based cleaning products were initially introduced to the market and it left a very stubborn belief that these products were overly expensive and did not work as well as conventional cleaning products. The “Green Era” has brought a new generation of very effective products that can replace conventional products. Better yet, the cost of “Going Green” with these products is estimated at about 2-4%. This can be offset by other realized benefits.

It is a slow process, but companies are starting to realize that there are other financial considerations to “Going Green.” These benefits are referred to as Green Premiums referring to other factors that offer more than a clean building. While we can still enjoy a clean building, the Green Premium refers to the health impact and costs that also hit the company’s expense list.

Instead of slowly aggravating the health of the employees, the Green program is designed to avoid harmful practices and introduce healthier alternatives. This new practice will alleviate acute and chronic illnesses, and that has a financial reward that can be a financial asset.

Absenteeism is always a cost factor because the employees make business (and revenue) happen for the company. Health costs may be a concern for the insurance company, but those costs are returned to the company’s bottom line through increased premiums. Part of the cost for health is paid in out-of-pocket expenses, but health costs are a big expense item to any business. It makes sense that a healthier workforce will lead to better health insurance rates.

While thinking about Green Premiums, consider the value of a more alert and productive workforce. We have all found ourselves in a situation where something triggers a headache, depressed feeling, or aggravation of a condition. It make by a powerful smell, second-hand smoke, or diesel exhaust. Your office can be filled with small detractors from worker productivity.

Consider the tax implications for sick people that exceed what you see in your company’s costs. The cost of caring for the sick and chronically ill person is also a burden to society. Even after these people are off our payroll, they continue to need medical care, and someone has top pay for that. There is also the concern for all the trash and waste we produce which must be handled by local, state, or federal governments. The invisible cost of all these things are seen in constantly increased taxes.

As we consider the Green Premium, it is realized in savings through healthy employees. Health insurance, health costs, and taxes are part of the overall equation that we pay in one form or another. Therefore, the 2-4% costs of moving to a Green workplace seems powerfully overwhelmed by the health and tax cost savings.
