How to Lose Weight Quickly without the pain.

by Fiona Williams

So you want to lose weight quickly, get rid of some flab and trim up your body. Going on a diet is the thing that most people think of first. Unfortunately we tend to associate diet with starving ourselves, terrible tasting food and hot sweaty workouts at the gym. Well why don’t we look at some easy fat burning methods that don’t hurt so much. In its simplest form we lose weight quickly and burn the fat off if our intake in terms of calories is less that what our body burns off during the day.

So we want to keep our metabolism rate up high. We hear about people with a different metabolism never putting on weight. That’s because their metabolism is chugging along at a higher level which in itself is burning up energy.

If you want to lose weight quickly you need to emulate this by keeping your metabolic rate up. Make sure you get up and have an early breakfast. Have a mid-morning snack to keep your body processes moving. Try and have a solid lunch but a smaller evening meal. This will also make sure you have an appetite when you wake up in the morning.

Drink lots of water. Besides hydrating your body, it can help to make you feel full. Keep yourself active. This doesn’t necessarily mean hard strenuous exercise but it even helps just to keep moving. Move around, jump up and down occasionally, walk a bit or run up the stairs. Get out in the yard and run around chasing a ball. It is fun and the more you get increase your heart rate, (within limits), the more you enjoy it.

Try to ensure you eat just a bit less at your major meal sittings. Don’t keep eating until you are full or until the plate is finished. Don’t go without meals to lose weight quickly but if you have to miss a meal make it the evening meal. Instead of just sitting on the couch when you watch TV, do something active.

Exercise is an issue we can’t really get away from. It is really what keeps us fit and healthy. The problem for many of us is that life’s daily priorities and urgencies tend to get in the way. Pretty soon that exercise schedule is way out of the window.

A great solution for this is to set a time each morning to get out of bed and exercise. Firstly it is good for the body to have the same get out of bed time each day and secondly the morning exercise regime will really get your metabolism kick started for the day.

It is definitely a feel-good exercise as once you get your heart pumping, you will feel much more positive about the day. It is a good time just to clear your head, think about the day ahead, improve your cardio vascular system and burn some calories as well.

Deciding on Useful Hurricane Window Protection Methods

by John Bakers

If you live in a part of the country which often experiences frequent hurricanes then you probably need to spend some time thinking of some ways to protect your property in a storm. High speed winds can cause all sorts of objects to fly through the air which could cause damage to your windows. The wind itself can also blow out your windows, or take your roof off. It is very important to properly protect your property so that this doesn’t happen to you.

Choosing Hurricane Window Protection

When choosing windows designed for hurricane weather, there are some important things you need to consider when looking at the different window protection methods on the market:

- Can you install this product by yourself? Is it easy to install? - How much does this product cost? Also remember to include the cost if you need a professional - What do you need to do (if anything) before the storm hits. Are the shutters fixed to your home and simply need shutting? Or do they need hanging every time? - Think about what you want to protect - You should pay special attention to doors and windows, as these are the weak points of your property and may need extra help.

Using shutters

Accordion Shutters

These types of shutters typically come in one or two pieces and are fixed to your house all year round. This means that you do not have to take them off or put them back on. These fold over the window to protect it. These are very easy to close, one person can do it by himself.

Bahama Shutters

These shutters are fixed above the window and are just propped open when they are not used. These also provide quite a lot of shade from the sun. The shutters should then be lowered and fixed to the wall. One person can put these shutters over the windows fairly quickly.

Roll Down Shutters

These shutters are also fixed above the windows. These are similar to shutters on shops, when they are needed you just need to press a button and they will roll out and cover your window. These are much more expensive however they are really easy to use! It’s important to choose one that has some form of battery backup, otherwise you may be unable to open them again if the hurricane damages the power.

Storm Panels

These are the simplest solution, they are just sheets of steel or aluminum which are attached to the window. These need to be physically installed just before a storm, this can be very time consuming and you’d be hard pushed to do it on your own.

Special Glass for Hurricane Window Protection

There is also impact resistant glass, this is proving very popular. This can be fitted into windows and glass doors. These are the easiest as you don’t even need to press a button, the window is already protected.

It is possible to install this glass in existing homes, however it is very expensive. You can’t do this project by yourself, you need assistance from a professional so that your home will be properly protected.

Free Career Tests: What You Should Know About?

by Sharon Walker

It is easy to get your hands on free career tests, but you may wonder whether the free one will do you any good as the paid ones?

Like many other people, it is quite possible that you started on your career path with a lot of enthusiasm and that, some point later, you start to feel lost, confused or even ready to give up on your chosen career. One good way to help you decide on which direction to go with your career is to take career tests.

You can choose to take either free tests or paid one, and can take those either in a career center or in front of your own computer. There is no right or wrong answers, but your answers can hint a lot about whether you should strive even harder with your current job or steer to a new path.

While you can usually get reliable results if you took one given and interpreted by a qualified professional like a career counselor, there are a couple of good online tests given for free. Like the paid one, many of the free tests are very convenient to answer and take only a few minutes to complete. Some sites even interpret your results right after you take them.

The downside of online free tests is that many of them are not standardized. They may come with disclaimers that they do not hold any responsibilities for the interpreted results. It is therefore important to take these tests only as a guide and read the results together with more professional advice from a career counselor. Bear in mind that even reliable standard tests should not be viewed as an oracle that has to be strictly followed.

You may have noticed that many career sites now offer free tests as a teaser. The teaser questions are usually short but can often perk your interest. Their back-end products can be a more reliable and comprehensive career assistance package which you can obtain by purchasing.

It makes sense, sometimes, to register with career sites that offer a much wider range of services. You may have to pay a fee for that, but, if you screen carefully, what you pay may well be worth it. In the end, your career is part of your life and you want that part to be enjoying and rewarding.

If you select with care, free career tests can do you as much good as the paid ones. Just remember to use the results wisely and always get the assistance from the career professionals if your career problems become serious. After all, it can be emotionally, physically and financially costly to stay in a wrong job.

When God Works Through Scientists

by Alexa Ferotina

Let’s face it, science has a negative connotation with many pious persons. Maybe it has to do with religion and faith not requiring facts. Religion and faith, relies on a “leap of faith”, which, of course, is why they call it faith, nothing more than faith.

On the other hand, science is based on proven research and facts. Oddly enough, I happen to be a person of faith, but I guess my theory of faith, and there being a higher power is a bit different than many. I do not look at God as a big force in the sky scrutinizing our every move, pondering if we get to go to heaven or hell.

My thoughts about life and death and everything in between, do not always please everyone, but as long as they please me, and make sense to me, then I’m ok with that.

I have seen, what I feel is God working through man/or woman in science, politics, medicine, and yes, even law. Of course I have seen the opposite work in all these arenas and more, but I tend to believe that is man’s own free will and nothing to do with religion or faith.

Upon surfing the net, not long ago I came across an invention on the Internet that is patent-pending, created by cartoonist Rick London. I was astonished. I have known him since my university masters work, always knew he was a cartoonist, but the discovery of his being an inventor came as a shock.

When I viewed his 14 page power-points and saw just what the device does, I could see Rick had tapped into his own higher power. This only managed to convince me that maybe my own theory of faith and science working together is not so far off. I have always known Rick London to be a man of strong faith and principle.

“Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” We’ve all seen that device. Rick London’s Insert Alert makes it not just obsolete but archaic. His is worn as jewelry, can be worn anywhere in the world, does not require a button to be pushed, is fully computerized/automated, dials the nearest 9-1-1 anywhere in the world, has satellite tracking, stores medical records, the wearer can be unconscious and it still does the work, even monitors vital signs and oxygen proximity. I have never seen anything quite so incredibly ingenius.

In addition to all the other features, the device even calls 9-1-1 if the wearer has a medical emergency and is not aware of it. Thousands if not tens of thousands of heart attacks, are ignored and thought to be indigestion. But not with this device. It even knows the difference, even if the wearer does not, and dials the nearest emergency or medical center, even in Tibet.

I am certain the West Virginia shootings would have minimal at most, the minute the students were lined up. If even one was wearing the device, his/her blood pressure would have risen high enough to alert the nearest emergency unit. It is very possible not one shooting would have occurred. And I won’t even begin to start with the number of kidnapped and/or tortured soldiers in Iraq. It is an amazing device and I surely hope it makes it to the market soon. I cannot think of a person on this nutty planet who could not be a customer.

Even the senior engineer of IBM, Dr. Andrew Beiler says this will raise the bar of medical technology the way we have perceived it for the past decade.

I was in communications with Rick recently. He is going on the ABC American Inventor show to try to raise money to build a prototype and sell the license to it.

The lives it will saved cannot be counted; from military to adventurers/mountain climbers, to hikers to skiers to the elderly, to anyone, I think, this is what I mean by God working through humans. It appears Rick London has tapped into that theory and uses it wisely. Congratulations Rick. You have arrived in my mind, far above arriving. If there is a God, which I believe there is, he is smiling down on you.

Coping with Period Pain - Some Tips To Help You Through!

by JetChemist

Some reasons why periods are painful.

Every month an extra thick lining is added in your uterus or womb which is rich in blood. This is meant for the fertilised egg, it will be nourished and supported by this lining while it develops into a baby. A period starts however if the egg does not become fertilised. During this period the extra lining and egg are discharged through the vagina, producing the symptoms of a period. The muscular nature of the womb causes contractions to assist with this monthly shedding of the lining. Prostaglandins, chemicals which initiate the contractions can sometimes be overproduced, causing the cramps and pains many women feel at the time of their period.

Who is most likely to suffer from period pain?

Up to a third of women may experience period pain every time. More common in 15 to 25 year-olds, these women may not have settled into a regular period each month. Periods can be totally pain-free after having a baby or at least, as is common become less painful with age.

Some of the most common symptoms:

Period pain is usually felt as discomfort or a cramping pain in the lower part of your abdomen, this can spread to the back and even to the legs also. The pain may be felt as a sharp colicky pain that comes and goes, or as a steady ache, each woman’s experiences period pain differently. Pain can start a couple of days before bleeding, or at the same time, it can continue for just a few hours up to as long as three days. Some women feel headachy or nauseous as well, some even feel faint, tired or generally unwell.

Some things you can do to help ease the pain:

Because warmth relaxes muscles, it may also help to reduce period pain. A warm bath or a hot water bottle held against your tummy or back can work wonders. Relaxation can be aided by massage or aromatherapy and period pain can sometimes be relieved by gently rubbing or massaging your stomach. A few drops of an essential oil such as lavender in your bath water can also help you to relax. Gentle exercise can also help to take your mind off the pain, and may also reduce the mood swings experienced by some women around the time of their period.

Is it true that oral contraceptives may help with period pain?

A few months on an oral contraceptive has been known to sort out the problem for some women. This can be a good solution to two needs of course, for women who require protection from pregnancy also. You should consult your doctor to find out whether this would be a suitable option for you.

The Romance Of Foliage - House Plants

by Keith Markensen

Plant life has been proven to be uplifting to the human health and spirit. The plants clean toxins out of the air, and are pleasant to look at. It is also fulfilling to take care of a living thing.

There are some things you must know to be able to take care of potted plants. The following article will explain some of those things.

You need to do plenty of research on which types of plants will naturally grow well in the conditions your home will provide. If you try to grow something that is out of place in that environment, you are asking for failure. It helps to choose plants that do not need much fertilizer or watering. This will make our job easier.

Spider plants and cacti are extremely easy to take care of. If you choose these, and some more exotic varieties that require more care, you should be able to have everything survive. Choosing some simple varieties will give you the time to care for the more complex ones.

After you choose the correct plants, you need to find the right size pots for them. It the pot is too small, the roots will become root bound and your plant could die. Too big of a pot is not good either.

The soil needs to have the correct amount of nutrients and moisture. Also, you need to provide the correct amount of sunlight. Not too little, but not too much. Too little is bad because plants need sunlight to grow. Too much, however, can burn the leaves or harm the roots by overheating the soil. The correct amount of these things will vary slightly based upon the species of plant.

Besides these health considerations, you also want to plants to look good. So, not only is the size of the pot important for the growth of your plant, but the color and style of the pot is important as well. Mixing the look of the plant with that of the pot can be a very creative venture that can either make you home look great or tacky. Careful choice is important.

For example, in bright, open corners of your home, a large plant will look great. It can be planted in a medium sized pot on a tall stand. A Sansevieria is one of the plants that would look nice here. Another option for this location is a palm. You can then place smaller plants that need shade beneath the shelter of the palm.

No matter what pots you choose the first time around, you should keep in mind that you will probably have to repot in a couple years. The plants will outgrow the pot, and it is unhealthy to keep a plant in a pot that is too small.

To avoid having to repot every plant at once, you should grow some plants from seeds or cuttings, while buying others that are young, and some that are mature. Also, you should buy some species that grow quickly and some that grow slow. You may have to repot a couple plants each year this way, instead of having the huge task of repotting everything at once. Repotting is all a part of caring for your indoor houseplants. Some plants can be repotted in the spring, and others in the fall. You can use pots from larger plants to plant the smaller ones that have now grown large enough for the large pots. This will keep you from needing to buy all new pots.

A separate advantage to this variety in plants is that you will have some plants flowering in the spring, others in the summer, and some in the fall. It will add color and pleasant scents to your home for more of the year–probably up to 6-8 months.

With proper planning, you will not have to exert a lot of time and effort to have a successful home garden.

Trying To Have A Baby? Try This “Secret” Infertilty Treatment Tip

by Elgin Stewart

Sure we have heard of in-vitro fertilization, sperm donors, Clomid and other medications as some routes taken for infertility treatment, but what about adoption?

I agree with you that it is not actually the usual infertility treatment, but it is one of the ways for a couple to have kids and raise them. This may be the last attempt for a couple undergoing cycle after cycle of infertility treatment, but to some people, it may be destined that they are not having kids of their own. But able to provide a loving home for these kids.

Have you think of the factors when using this idea?

It is Not Painless

You will not experience any pain as there is not need for needles and medication, not to mention side-effects as it is painless. However, you will face some temporary emotional imbalance as you make one of the most decision when adopting this action.

It Is Quite Expensive

Your insurance company may not cover your infertility treatment, which may leads to huge medical expenses. Also, the costs associated with an adoption are not easily to predict that it may include extensive paperwork, traveling expenses and not forgetting stocking up of babies food and other supplies.

Not As Simple As You May Have Thought Of

You have to accept the adopted child heritage and take note on his or her holidays, names, food and clothings as their culture and traditions may be different from yours.

This Method Is Not Guaranteed

But neither is any infertility treatment. You have to check your financial status before your adoption is granted. Furthermore, if the baby has any disabilities, you might change your mind about it.

Also, you may have difficulty trying to convince yourself, your other kids and fellow family members on the notion of adoption. However, once they know you have been trying to have a baby due to a series of infertility treatment, they might accept your decision. They may even warned you that you may face challenges that this adopted child to fit in with other siblings and grandparents.

It Is Very Enriching

With all the pros and cons weighing and the realities of adoption accepted, it can be an immensely satisfying experience for families who choose to go ahead with adoption. The happiness of giving a child a home is not measurable by money. Furthermore, more pregnancy cases are reported for couples who adopted child as though it is their own. This is not a miracle, but because their mind, body and soul were more at peace.
