Low back pain treament and management
Prior to discussing treatment options, let make sure we ll know why low back pain happens. Most health care professional believe the majority of low back pain is caused by functional problems. This is mainly abnormal movement of the joints of the spine. Many conditions can lead to joint dysfunction in the spine including disc bulges, degenerative changes and ligament sprains.
At higher risk for low back problems are people in poor physical condition, and those with jobs that include heavy labor or long periods of sitting or standing. These people also recover from their back problems more slowly. Emotional stress or long periods of inactivity may intensify symptoms, or trigger recurrence of a previous problem.
Chiropractic physicians treat low back pain by fixing the source of the nerve irritation, which is the dysfunctional movement of the spinal joints. By correcting the movement and reducing the irritation to the nerves, they treat the problem not just the symptoms. The success rate is excellent and there are little to no negative side affect to the treatment.
The chiropractor’s primary tool in treating spinal malfunction is the use of manipulation or the spinal adjustment. By applying precisely directed force to a joint that is out of position or not moving properly it is gradually restored to a more normal position and function. Depending on each individual condition, the doctor’s hands or a special instrument may be used to deliver quick, therapeutic thrust to the affected joint. Other adjustments may require slow, constant pressure.
There are a variety of associated therapies the doctor may use in conjunction to the manipulation in the treatment of your low back pain. Electrical stimulation to relax muscle spasms and reduce pain along with hot/ice packs massage therapy and ultrasound may all be used. to help rehabilitate your back after your injury and treatment therapeutic exercise will strengthen and retrain the muscle of your back.
When pain is severe, problems with your back can’t be ignored. “Stop pain” immediately goes to number one on your list. Falls, car accidents, sports strains, heavy lifting, or repetitive work may cause sudden damage, or damage may occur slowly over time. However, most problems are more easily treated within the first month symptoms are noticed.
Be proactive in the treatment of your low back condition. When you first notice low back pain make an appointment to see your chiropractor, and get it fixed fast. Putting off getting chiropractic care until the pain is unbearable, make the treatment more complicated and more expensive in the long run.
Stop the needless suffering. The sooner you seek care the sooner you will get relief. Get the low back pain relief that has been proven in scientific studies and by over a hundred year of satisfied chiropractic patients.
