Chicago judge allows SEC to use previous trial material to try to settle suits

- A Chicago judge has granted a motion to allow the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to use information from Conrad Black’s previous criminal and civil trials to try to settle some of the claims against the former press baron.Black, once the head of the world’s third-largest newspaper empire, was sentenced to a six-and-half-year jail sentence earlier this month after being convicted of fraud and obstruction of justice in a criminal court. He also faces a barrage of civil suits, including the one by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Read more
