Travel Insurance To Cover Medical Needs

by Kurt Schefken

Even though there are many reasons to purchase travel insurance, many people do not feel they need it when traveling in their country or origin or when traveling overseas. But if an emergency does occur, your medical insurance may not cover all of your expenses. This means you will have to pay the remainder, which could be thousands of dollars. If you can afford to make these types of payments, then you may not need additional insurance, but if you are on a fixed budget, you may need to purchase insurance for business and vacation travel.

Travel insurance can be purchased through companies that specialize in providing travelers with the insurance they need. Before signing a policy, read over it carefully and research the company to make sure they have a good reputation. If the coverage is not enough, you may be able to upgrade to another plan. You can opt for long term or short term insurance plans that allow you to be covered for a certain amount of time. For those who travel abroad often, long term plans may be more cost effective.

After finding a plan that meets your needs, make sure you pack all contact information and have it readily available in case of an emergency. Even if you need to cancel your trip or postpone it, you can use the insurance to avoid paying additional fees. When planning an expensive cruise or vacation, having this insurance will allow you to retrieve your deposit and help you cover any other costs.

Investing in travel insurance is a smart idea if you plan on staying in another country for an extended period of time. Students studying abroad, those traveling for business, or those who have family in another country, can purchase annual insurance policies that cover them for a longer period of time. In case of an emergency, they can provide proof of health coverage and be treated quickly.

Gut Check: Calibrating With Yourself

by Kenrick Cleveland

Intuition is defined as “the immediate apprehension of an object by the mind without the intervention of any reasoning process” [Oxford English Dictionary].

Isaac Asimov said of the subject, “Intuition is the art, peculiar to the human mind, of working out the correct answer from data that is, in itself, incomplete or even, perhaps, misleading.”

How is your relationship with this aspect of yourself? Can you find your own way through a situation with incomplete data?

Gut feelings are part of the human experience. Some of us are more in touch than others. The most likely forms of intuition come in situations of danger, as in you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, or in situations of romance (which some might also consider danger) as in, ‘I knew it the first time we met that he (or she) would be the person I married.’

Intuition is a muscle that can be strengthened. It is an aspect of emotional intelligence and with study, attention and patience, can be grown and used to further aid your persuasion skills.

In business it’s entirely acceptable to follow these gut feelings, hunches or intuitions and, in fact, is really a sign that our other-than-conscious, our Gentle Genie is flawlessly and with ease guiding our lives as per our request.(Check out my other articles for an idea of how to get in touch with your Gentle Giant.)

People experience intuition differently. I feel it in my stomach. It’s a queasy feeling that radiates sharply. Other people feel it in their chests, heart pumping faster. Others have a hardness at the back of their throats, like they can’t swallow. Paying attention to these subtle (and not so subtle) physical shifts can make all the difference in our self-calibration. These shifts in some cases can mean the difference in the measures we take to close a deal or get out of a sticky situation.

Following your hunches and intuition should not negate logic or reason. I’m not suggesting that at all. But when you combine them they can increase your powers of persuasion incredibly. Many people believe that hunches and intuition should be relegated to new age enthusiasts. But think of it this way: what’s a police officer without his gut instinct? Lee Iacoca once said, “The only mistake I ever made was not listening to my gut.”

Can you think of times when you had these feelings and didn’t heed their warnings? And by ignoring these hunches, was there a resulting unpleasantness?

By checking in, centering, and gaining clarity, our persuasion is enhanced immeasurably in all aspects of life. A really great resource on intuition is Laura Day’s book, ‘Practical Intuition,’ which contains some amazing exercises to strengthen and stretch the “sixth sense” or really, what I like to think of as our relationship to and messages from our gentle giant.

Ecotourism - Adventure, Preservation Or Just Fun?

by Rob Carlton

One of the mottos for most ecologically minded tourists, cave explorers and other outdoor enthusiasts is this: Take only photographs and leave only footprints. This philosophy works well with the ecotourist who sees travel destinations as a place to preserve and protect nature, culture and a way of life.

Not many arguments are made today against conserving natural resources, though many would say that leaving them untouched is going a bit too far. In recent years, a considerable difference of opinion has developed between two loosely defined groups: those who fully support tourism that focuses on preserving the environment and not altering it with man-made structures and those who feel that the most desirable destinations on the globe should be developed for enjoyment by the traveling man or woman.

Some may argue that living in a consumption-oriented, capitalist society does not fit with the occasional trip to a remote site for the purpose of “vacation” adventure of a sensitive sort. In fact, a certain percentage of those who scoff at ecotourism note that the same effort should go into visiting and preserving the natural resources of the home country. For example, some have proposed that there is enough to do and see in the United States without traveling to a foreign shore for the purpose of ecotourism.

Part of the puzzle lies to the side, still not fitted into a final picture. The reason is that so many are still unsure if the environment (nature) really has basic value in the economy. Of course, a certain percentage of the population will state emphatically that, yes, there is value to be realized from using the environment. Others, however, will debate this, stating that marketing nature and its resources as a primary activity is not healthy, even dangerous. Some environmentalists and natural travel proponents fear that those with a profit motive may actually be taking over ecotourism, with a view toward making nature another commodity.

The debates continue as some on the profit/capitalist side argue that ecotourists are actually creating a huge industry without actually intending to. The simple act of traveling to distant sites for preservation of nature and culture advertises that this opportunity exists, according to some. The argument seems to be that there is little difference between the budding ecotourism industry and the infancy of golf travel or mountain climbing years ago.

The debate has at least one other interesting piece of “evidence,” alternately used by both sides. Ecotourists argue that there is no intention of getting away from it all during an environmentally focused trip. These believers state emphatically that the entire purpose is to preserve and protect. But others call this pretending, noting that the eco-traveler is not really roughing it as much as he claims. In the discussion, ecotourism proponents might counter that their way of travel is intended to establish a position that cannot be confused with recreational travel for the masses.

Ecotourism may encourage politicians, government agencies and mass-tourism proponents to consider conservation and preservation. But the opinions still differ on how this is to be accomplished and the world is waiting for recommendations.

by Jack Blacksmith

You will find that it is very important that you learn the rules of travel when it comes to traveling for either business or pleasure. You will want to make sure that you take the time to figure out what it will take you to travel there and back safely. There are many rules and other things that you will need to consider when it comes internationally traveling. You will also want to take inconsideration that there are many rules that your will need to get yourself familiar with. You will want to make sure that you do find out what the rules are so that you do not get yourself in a load of trouble.

There are travels rules for all travelers and you will also want to consider the fact that there are in-flight rules. There are in-flight rules that will include how to act when in-flight, before you get on the plane, and when you get off the plane. There is a code of conduct. It is very important that you learn the behaviors that are acceptable and that you use manners at this time. You will be putting yourself and others in danger if you do not follow the common air travel rules.

Then once you are able to get through all the international security checkpoints. You will be advised that you will need to board the plane in a calm and cool manner. There are some people who will freak out because they are afraid of flying; however, you need to walk on the plane as if you have nothing to fear, as if you were walking onto a bus. For those who refuse to follow the common rules of flying and do not cooperate, they put everyone in danger.

Your safety and the safety of others are very important. You will want to follow the rules or traveling, but you should also keep in mind that they do not mess around when it comes to plane safety. You will want to make sure that you do not start playing around, because with all the terrorism going on, there is no room for it. Intense Muscle Building

by Ruff Raun

Trying to achieve a truly complete full body workout that will enable the exerciser to get the maximum results in the least amount of time, is a matter of quality intense repetitions with accurate natural movement and resistance.

For nearly 35 years now, I have been using a system that has kept me in premier physical condition and can be used by anyone that is serious about getting and staying in shape.

I, like most people, am strapped for time and always have been, so whats a person to do if they want to have an productive, healthy, physical workout and don’t have two hours to spend at a health club. I was a member for almost 15 years at The Chicago Health Club (Ballys total fitness).

The workout routine that was working so well for me, became harder and harder to successfully perform when the club membership began to really explode in the 80’s, preventing a nonstop, progressive, intense, muscle group rotation workout. Since it became so difficult to effectively get the most out of my one hour regimen, I quit, so I could get my routine in at home somehow and it has kept me in good shape ever since.

The introduction of the Nautilus machines was the best thing that happened for me as far as my fitness goals were concerned back in 1973 when I first joined Bally’s. I was using free weight just like everyone else but really felt so much better if I was able to get an intense nonstop routine going and usually there was some sort of waiting around for the proper weights, so the Nautilus full body non-stop regimen was perfect and allowed a very beneficial workout in only one hour.

My fitness goals are like most peoples, just looking to have a nice healthy physique, not a barrel chested, muscle ripping physique. I am a littlle ripped though, the regimen simply produces results. Including no luv handles and maintaining strength and flexiblity as I get older.

The intensity and continuous one hour workout is vital for the fat burning, muscle building and body sculpting effects. There is no resting between sets and all sets consist of ten reps. Three sets of each exercise that pinpoint each muscle group. This regimen produces results in all areas of body conditioning but isn’t for the untrained body, so it is important that you condition yourself for at least a week before you perform this workout but the results will keep you going back for more, regardless of your fitness goals.

The beauty of this regimen is the noticable effectiveness that allows the exerciser to eventually use less time on the workout once you have reached your fitness goals. I personally only need 45 minutes three days a week to keep my physique. I would’nt advise more than an hour of this at a time but if your goals are more aggressive, simply add a day or two. Begin with a full set of an upper body routine such as chest, arms or shoulders and after the first set you want to alternate without delay, to a lower muscle group such as legs , abs, or buttocks. Keep rotating three sets of each exercise and don’t forget to include some cardio.

It is also important to utilize more than one routine per muscle group, so you can achieve a complete full body shaping and conditioning effect. An example is to perform three sets of flys and three sets of pull downs for chest building.

No workout regimen is complete witout including some form of cardio and always start with some warmup and stretching routines.

Since the Nautilus type equipment provided the proper movement and resistance, copying the same effective routine only made sense, so I am deploying a resistance band workout with all the bands, handles and strategically anchored bands ready to go for a non-stop, intense, fat burning, muscle building, body shaping, and short and simple workout regimen.

Consistency and intensity is the key to achieving a fat burning, muscle building effect but if done diligently, the exerciser will begin to notice positive changes in two or three weeks and possible tremendous results in about four weeks.

No fitness program is complete unless there is a good nutritional diet plan involved.

This is also excellent for the ladies. Most women don’t want to build muscle mass, so use less resistance and apply more reps and watch the pounds come off while you build your strength and get the shape you are desiring.

A total physical conversion can be maintained with this regimen when done with regularity.

Look for the same entire resistance band and anchor kit to be available in early 2008, including DVD.

Relaxing In The Future May Involve Ecotourism

by Robert Carlton

With the increasing popularity of ecotourism in the past few years, more of the world’s desirable holiday destinations are looking to become part of the industry. Fascinating locations such as Sri Lanka have been preferred destinations for more traditional tourism but people have been booking ecotourism trips to this island nation as well. It would be safe to say that Sri Lanka is an ecotourism choice.

What needs to be in place for a site to operate as a desirable ecotourism location? In the simplest terms, there must be a certain type of recreational opportunity close to, or in, a natural environment for the concept to work. One of the most attractive factors for tourist destinations, of course, is the amount of revenue generated by visitors. Ecotourism has started to attract attention as a source of significant amounts of money because the eco-tourist is increasing the amount of money put into local economies.

While traditional recreational tourism has always generated huge amounts of cash for local businesses, ecotourism currently provides only a fraction of this amount. But the long-term benefits to the local populations are quite important too, in that the lower impact of ecotourism on the natural surroundings and resources leaves much more for the future.

One factor that ecotourism has in its favor is the possibility of becoming a destination without the major construction projects that traditional tourism often demands. In addition, sites that are far from the wealthiest countries become desirable as ecotourism stops for relaxing, rather than being bypassed as too far away for a holiday trip.

While there will always be changes and issues that result from any level of tourism, the hope among ecotourism proponents is that this slightly different focus will preserve and protect nature and culture in a way that hasn’t been possible with traditional tourist activities.

Some studies and research efforts indicate that, in the next several decades, ecotourism will attract 600 million tourists or more, with revenue possibly totalling in the $500 billion range. In anticipation of this growth, numerous potential destinations are starting to look at their beaches, forests and other natural wonders as great places to take a break from the work routine. In this future ecotourism world, locations that can boast of marine biodiversity, unspoiled beaches and fascinating wildlife will become quite desirable for an extended vacation.

Marketing efforts are already being fine-tuned to fit the needs and desires of current and future eco-tourists. Smaller countries and those in the so-called “undeveloped” world are seeing their sun and sand with new eyes. These often-neglected sites may now have tremendous potential as ecotourism spots. Some who are watching this industry closely feel that countries will develop marketing plans on a national scale, providing guidelines for handling the number of tourists and tourist dollars that will be coming.

A 1997 document that came out of the World Tourism Organization established a vision for the industry that definitely includes an increase in ecotourism activity. The plan sees this sector as a component that is attracting a growing number of tourists from across the oceans.

Local populations have started to see that their future prosperity may depend on ecotourism and the way they handle the revenue from it. Some indigenous populations are already changing their philosophy from selling examples of their culture. In more and more instances, the revenue is being generated from showing culture and displaying nature in unchanged form.

Film Schools - How To Choose A Winner

by Nathan James

Acting seems to be one of the things many people would like to do. It can certainly be rewarding, but it’s probably one of the hardest areas of the film industry to break into.

If you’re hoping to work in film or television, there are plenty of other areas to consider. For example, you might think about producing, directing or script writing. Choosing the right film school is one of the key decisions you’ll make.

The first step in getting into the film industry is determining what type of career you’re interested in. Just about any job in the film industry pays very well, so you should be ready for plenty of competition. You should also be aware that you’ll need to start at the bottom, often as a production assistant (answering phones, getting coffee, etc) before any hopes of working in the field you were trained in.

You’ll also have to think about relocating, since you’ll need to move to where the work is. In the film business that may mean you’ll be working on location for weeks or even months at a time.

How to Find The Film School That Meets Your Criteria

If your passion is acting, don’t choose a film school whose strength is directing. You’ll need to get a feel for all areas of film production, but you need to choose a school that is strong in the particular area you’re pursuing.

Find a school that will let you choose courses that best suit your goals rather than handing you a set class list that you must follow.

With the growth of the film industry, you’ll find film schools popping up all over the country (and the world). So you’ll need to do your due diligence to make sure you’re not paying a lot of money for a degree that isn’t going to get you anywhere.

Check to see how long the school has existed and make sure you check their credentials. Some large universities are even starting to offer film degrees, and they are often highly regarded in the film industry so that is another possibility.
